Wales’ largest buffet opens in town this Thursday and, never ones to walk away from a buffet empty handed, The Penny Post will be there on Wednesday night to bring you an opening-night taster into this cavernous eating emporium.
The sneaky peaks we’ve had inside the window are enticing, but will it live up to our rather high gastronomic expectations? Come back on Thursday to find out.
For now, here’s a bit of info about Red Hot World Buffet:
“The buffet area of the two storey, 16,000 sq ft Cardiff restaurant, that is located opposite Debenhams, will be 5,000 sq feet, featuring 35 chefs cooking up to 300 dishes at 10 live stations from nine cuisines from around the world.
Cardiff will be the first Red Hot World Buffet restaurant in the UK chain to feature a live dessert station, where home-made desserts and pastries will be freshly made to order, including Belgian waffles. Other live stations include Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Cajun, Tex Mex, Italian, Mediterranean and British.
Deliveries have begun to ensure that the buffet can supply the 550kg rice, 1,100 pizzas, 1,200 litres of ice-cream, 800 crème brulees and 9,000 Japanese prawns that is estimated to be consumed during its opening week.”
Other details about the restaurant do make it sound quite fancy and a cut above most other “all you can eat” experiences. We’ll let you know if the 35ft long flying dragon mounted in the ceiling brings them the luck they’re hoping for.
